Hold On

Occasionally, I go on "youtube jags". On even rarer occasions, I stumble across something really special. "Hold On", co-written and performed in Souix City, IA on March 19, 2011 by Kristian Bush (Sugarland) and Casey James (American Idol). It's hard not to listen to this and believe this came from their thoughts and feelings about the people of Japan. Imagery of tsunami and earthquake are threaded into the lyrics (ie, "Time is slow. Water's rising". And, "We'll find the faith to rise above it. Find a rock where you can stand. When the ground starts to shake beneath you; What you know has fallen down.") Moving, beautiful, inspirational song. Lyrics and video follow. (Note: First 2 1/2 lines missing from this vid, but it was much better quality all around. I'll post both.)

HOLD ON
Time is slow. Water's rising
Sky is broken far as I can see
Through the darkness stars are shining
There's a voice that carries me
Saying, hold on, hold on
It'll turn before too long
When it feels just like all hope is gone
Don't give up, baby, hold on
Heartbreak falls, babe, all around you
Covered up in the brick and dust
Rose grows out of the rubble
Whispering love to each of us
Saying, hold on, hold on
It''ll turn before too long
When it feels just like all hope is gone
Dont give up, baby, hold on.
We'll find the faith to rise above it
Find a rock where you can stand
When the ground starts to shake beneath you
What you know has fallen down
Take a hand, babe, it may need you
Don't let go of what you've found
Saying, hold on, hold on
It'll turn before too long
When it feels just like all hope is gone
Don't give up, baby, hold on
Saying hold on, hold on
It'll turn before too long
When you feel like you, you can't go on
Don't give up, baby, hold on
I said, Don't give up, baby, hold on

Withdrawal

Withdrawal.  That ugly thing that addicts fear and try to avoid at all costs.  Yes.  I am in the midst of a case of it as I type.  I'm tired.  My thinking is scattered and it's difficult to try to focus on any one thing at a time.  I can't sleep.  When I close my eyes, I can see the object of my addiction and my thumb begins to move in a motion it's done hundreds of times each and every day. It seems so real, I smile and the anxiety leaves.  Except that when I open my eyes there is nothing there.  Only my hands.  Just once.  Just once let it work for me again.  *tries again* It STILL doesn't work.

The iTouch is SO addictive.  Mine died the day before yesterday. *sigh*

Playing Catch Up From California

I've been here a couple of months now and it's time to play a little catch up.  I started my job on Monday, finished off the week, and now I have a little time to spare.  My little fat boy, Gunner, isn't such a fat boy anymore.  He's down to 13 pounds and looking good!

Made a trip down to the confluence of the North Fork of the River and it was just beautiful.  This was one of the things I did miss about California while I was in Florida...the mountains.

End of the day at the confluence was spectacular...

One of the things I enjoyed here was the fall colors.  I'm told they stuck around longer this year.

Let's see....  I was sitting out on the front porch one morning at about 7:30am and the temperature, which was already cold, suddenly dropped about 10 degrees and lo and behold...brief snow.  I'm at about 1500 feet.

We went up to Donner Pass and Donner Lake last week.  Wow!  We couldn't have ordered a more beautiful day.   Breakfast across from the lake was the bomb!!!

I couldn't resist this Jelly Belly truck at a rest stop!!  So colorful!

I'm still fooling around with my camera and editing....nothing new there.  LOL!

Anyhoooooo...just a quick catch up.  More later...
